A SIGNON to the SAS/CONNECT spawner without a script file fails with the following error when the user ID contains a period or a space:

A temporary workaround is to use a SAS/CONNECT script file to SIGNON to the SAS/CONNECT spawner. This issue is fixed in SAS^® 9.4 TS1M2 and requires that both the SAS/CONNECT client and the spawner are running SAS 9.4 TS1M2 or later.

Note: The general meaning of this error is that the user ID and password credentials failed to authenticate. So, you might get this error in other situations as well.
