Problem Note 60312: SAS/CONNECT® SIGNON fails with a "...security verification failure..." error when the remote user ID contains a period or space

DetailsAboutRate It

A SIGNON to the SAS/CONNECT spawner without a script file fails with the following error when the user ID contains a period or a space:

ERROR: A communication subsystem partner link setup request failure has occurred.
ERROR: Communication request rejected by partner: security verification failure.
ERROR: Remote signon to xxxxxxxx canceled.

A temporary workaround is to use a SAS/CONNECT script file to SIGNON to the SAS/CONNECT spawner. This issue is fixed in SAS® 9.4 TS1M2 and requires that both the SAS/CONNECT client and the spawner are running SAS 9.4 TS1M2 or later.

Note: The general meaning of this error is that the user ID and password credentials failed to authenticate. So, you might get this error in other situations as well.
